Adjunct Visiting Artist at Claremont Graduate University
Claremont is unique MFA program focused on intense studio practice. I built the Digital Art Curriculum at CGU and continue to work with these amazing graduate students to help them realize their goals as artists.

Teaching Philosophy:
Media, and the art making procedure, has at its core an engaged dialogue with the self and the social setting in which the creative dialogue is taking place. The artist goal, at a base level, is to open up paths of understanding and to develop an awareness of the process of connection. What intrigues me most about Art and Design is exploration and problem solving. In my work, there is a constant emphasis on critically looking for and uncovering meaning.
I feel my role, as Media Arts instructor is similar to my approach as an artist and Multimedia Designer. I challenge students to establish a personalized focus of communication and then to explore ways to stimulate growth in an art making community. I feel learning is about sharing knowledge and I set up a supportive environment where teacher and student are working together to solve challenges. I feel it necessary to employ students with tools not only to create art, but also to accomplish conceptual frameworks for production.
As an instructor, I look for ways to stimulate growth in my students and myself. I believe in developing a rigorous understanding of the technological materials (In my case various digital media) while keeping a flexible and spontaneous work environment. I encourage students to test the limits of the medium while also building a concentration and discipline in what they are doing.
Outside of the classroom, I am interested in a constant dialogue with other artists and creative professionals. I am in a constant search for new and thought provoking ideas and technologies and I feel this energy gets redirected into my own personal art and finally back into the learning environment.
I hope students leave my class with ways to see the world both creatively and critically. I would like them to feel as though they can see connections to the world through a deepened vision of art.
